After finishing highschool, started studying at the Israeli institute of technology – The Technion to a degree in Opto-Mechanics,
while studying He got first encountered with a dance workshop that was teaching young people with no revious experience how to dance.
He then decided to leave the degree and start dancing.
While dancing for 2 years in that workshop from 2003-2005, Michael created his first piece “Minimal Common Denominator” a 14 min. piece made but researching the minimal common denominator of us as people/dancers. 14 minutes is 840 seconds which is the minimal common denominator of the numbers 1->8, the basic structure of dance. Music by Orphaned Land, Ranma 1/2, Aphex Twin, Pan Sonic, Black Dice,Cat Stevens
The music and costumes were designed by Michael
2 years later he created “Entropy” a piece for 5 female dancers, primarily commissioned by the Haifa Workshop and Shades in Dance festival 2007 at Suzanne Dellal Center Tel-Aviv, the piece went on stage also in an evening of Sigma Dance Company along with creations of other choreographers. Music by Erisioni, Hamlet Gonashvili, Savina Yannatou, Cat Stevens. Light Design – Jacob Baressi, Costume Design – Hagit Abir.
In that period of time from 2003 up to these days, Michael created and taught in various schools and workshops in Israel.
In 2009 Michael has created a full evening show that was premiered in Suzanne Dellal Center in April 2009 including 3 new pieces , A solo, Trio and a piece for 8 dancers of “Sigma Ensemble” which he is the artistic director and choreographer of
The solo – ‘Infimum’ is to a music by Steve Reich – Violin Phase, a duet for 2 violins.
The trio – ‘211/212’ was created to parts of J.S. Bach’s – ‘Goldberg Variations’ played by Glen Gould, a trio which consists of 3 duets and 3 solos, to emphasis the importance of those who are not on stage while the piece moves on.
The last piece – ‘Speed Of Light’ is based on the idea of freedom choice, the dancers are improvising the velocity , directions and parts of the choreography itself by a set of rules predetermined with music by Alva Noto & Rustavi Choir. Lights & Costume Design – Michael Miler. The piece was a part of “Shades in Dance 2009” festival in Suzanne Dellal Center, March 2009 Tel-Aviv
In August 2009, Michael was invited by Tel-Aviv Dance Company’s artistic director – Amit Goldenberg to create a piece for the company as a part of Israel’s leading festival – ‘Curtain Up’
and ‘International Exposure’
The piece – ‘No. 6’ is about densitys of people, events, and music in 6 parts by Arvo Part – Sarah Was Ninety Years Old
